IKAC
-------
The only change for the IKAC is the fact that
reporting sights/no sights (ie limb marks) is no
longer required. The reason for this is that it only
caused confusion, and had no demonstrated effect on
scores. The reporting spreadsheets will be adjusted
for this
IKCAC
--------
I will list the changes first, then I will post my
reasoning for them.
- Require use of a society approved head of at least
1.25" diameter.
- Require the use of APDs on all thin shafted
ammunition.
- Because these rules are posted three weeks into the
season, I will accept scores that were shot between 1
Feb and 24 Feb on small tips (less than 1.25”) and/or
no apds on thin-shafted ammunition. However, these
scores will be deducted 30%, to even out the scores.
I will now list the reasons for this decision, which I
think will probably make everyone equally unhappy:
It is pretty clear that the competition will die if
some level playing field is not created. Although I
have seen the argument of whether the IKCAC is a
target competition, or a practice for battle, the
bottom line is that the great majority of people are
most likely to use for the IKCAC the same equipment
they use in battle. Having ammunition that is only
valid for the IKCAC means that the number of people
who will participate will be limited to those who can
make the IKCAC ammunition that gives the chance for
the best scores. Furthermore, people participate to
win. That may not be their necessarily stated desire,
but everyone wants to do well. It is a very thin
satisfaction to know that you shot well, but you’ll
have no shot at winning unless you shoot something
that is illegal in every other pursuit.
There had been many suggestions to create more
divisions to have people shooting similar ammunition
compete against one another. I would personally prefer
that, but unfortunately, it is not feasible. It is
very hard for me to get the Kingdom Chroniclers to
print the monthly reports, and I cannot in good
conscience add more text. They would then be very
likely to refuse to print it, and it is very important
that the reports be printed, so that I can reach the
widest possible audience.
I fully expect that people will not agree with me on
this. This was arrived at based on picking the best
suggestions that I received. We will try it this way
this year, and if it doesn’t work we will try to come
up with another system.
